SIGN OUR TWO PAPER PETITIONS TO BE TABLED AT THE LEGISLATURE & GET OTHER ONTARIO-BASED RESIDENTS TO SIGN!
Sign both of our paper petitions & get other Ontario-based residents to sign. Once the legislature resumes in October, the petitions will be tabled.
Instructions:
Step 1 | Print both petitions:
-
Petition 1: Mandate the removal of police-in-school programs & policing-in-school programs from educational spaces in Ontario
-
Petition 2: Mandate the removal of policing, carceral & punitive approaches from educational spaces in Ontario

Step 2 | Have access to speaking points These two petitions are interconnected yet separate petitions. The first petition is for the government to mandate the removal of all and any type of police(ing)-in-school programs from all educational spaces across the province as a first and necessary step moving towards a policing-free schools Ontario. The second petition, focuses on uprooting the multiple ways that policing and carceral measures operate outside of police presence within schooling spaces such as seclusion, restraint, exclusions, time-outs, punitive disciplinary practices etc. and is asking for properly funded, supported and resourced schools and the government to address the systemic and social determinants of health and equity. A year ago in June, former ONDP MPP Jill Andrew, tabled at the Provincial Legislature both of the Policing-Free Schools’ Provincial Campaign petitions. Signatures are continuing to be collected as they are going to be re-tabled by NDP MPP Kristyn Wong-Tam when the legislature comes back from the summer recess in October. Clarification: They only ask for one's address solely for the purpose to verify that you are an Ontario resident--that is the only reason. The provincial government at this time only accepts paper/hard copies of petitions with original signatures to be tabled not digital or e-signatures from online petitions. If you signed the online petitions you can still sign onto this one. The original copies will be submitted. Step 3 | Sign the petition & get others to sign! Email: connect@policingfreeschools.ca for information on where to submit the petitions or have them picked up
