#ASSAULTAT

Due to the presence of police and policing in schooling and educational spaces, this increase of contact and interactions places students at a heightened risk of police violence.

Our United States-based National Campaign partners Advancement Project and the Alliance for Educational Justice co-created the #AssaultAt map which chronicles 300+ acts of police violence against students in schools based out of the U.S since 2007.

We know that across so-called Canada police violence in educational spaces continues to happen and there is no tracking of this data. That is why an #AssaultAt Canada Map and Reporting Tool at Policing-Free Schools is under the works to track police violence perpetrated by (including but not limited to) police(ing)-in-school program officers, police officers on school property and at school-related events, security guards and special constables/peace officers as part of the schooling policing infrastructure. Our gratitude goes out to the Advancement Project and Alliance for Educational Justice for their support and mentorship.
